Just doing a quick post today. Even the smaller ideas I had for a write up just aren’t within the means of a manageable time frame, and for that, I do apologize.
One of my main sources of interest in the past day, comes with the news of Anita Sarkeesian’s first video in her series Tropes vs Women in video games is finally out. Click here and take a look, if you’re at all interested in the in’s and out’s of media dissection. Her take on gender equality is always insightful, and I appreciate her giving video games respect enough to give them precious minutes of her time. One of my ideas for an article was doing a counter-point, or at least a second look at her own analysis, as a way to challenge my own boundaries of analysis and critical thinking skills.
I was also thinking about doing a Tomb Raider preview, but no demo was out for this, a most salivating looking title. Considering the recent controversy of beta builds, or demo’s in general failing to live up to the hype of the actual product, the difference may have been of inert benefit. Early glimpses sometimes providing a mixed sense of what the full game will be like, or just completely misleading consumers in general is a bad habit in the industry, and definitely needs to be viewed upon as a vice, and not a virtue. This is all context of course, as the Art vs Business aspect of video games, will normally dictate on what side of the fence you feel comfortable on.
That’s it for today. Look for more juicy goodness in the next couple days.
Until then guy,
But are damn funny.
That’s all, go game now.
